Fine wine from Wachau Austria
Wine production in the Wachau region dates back to the Roman era, when the area was known as Pannonia. The region produces some of the finest Riesling and Grüner Veltliner wines in all of Austria. During the Middle Ages, wine production suffered due to invasions by the Huns and other barbarian tribes. However, after peace was restored, viticulture flourished once again in the region.
