Fine wine from Trentino Italy
The northern Italian area of Trentino is often regarded as a top winemaking location. Trentodoc, a sparkling wine prepared in the traditional technique, and Pinot Nero, a red wine made from the Pinot Nero grape, are two of Trentino's most well-known wines.
The Trentodoc sparkling wine is prepared in the classic style, with a delicate perlage and a fragrance of white flowers and fruit; it is named for the area in which it is produced, Trentino. This wine is a great choice to serve with seafood dishes.
Pinot Nero, a red wine from the Italian area of Trentino, is known for its intense color (a deep crimson) and fragrance (a mix of juicy red fruit and spice) and goes well with hearty fare (think: red meat and aged cheese).
The region of Trentino is also known for producing world-renowned wines, such the Schiava and the Gewürztraminer. These are respectively a red and white wine with a rich aroma of juicy red fruit and spice, and they go well with hearty meats and aged cheeses.
Trentino also produces a number of other wines, including the red Lagrein, the white Nosiola, and the sweet Vino Santo Trentino.
